Hawaii Pride Guide May 2014 E-News

When: May 17, 2014 @ 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Where: All Across Maui
Cost: $25 Entry Fee per Team
Contact: Maui Pride Organization

Whether you’ve seen “The Amazing Race” TV series or not, you definitely don’t want to miss taking part in Maui Pride’s spin of the adventure. Here’s how it works:

  • Multiple teams will race against each other across the island of Maui to multiple destinations.
  • Teams will be composed of two people who will have some form of a pre-existing personal relationship (family members, friends, couples, coworkers, etc…).
  • Once a team reaches a destination, known as a “Pit-Stop”, they will need to complete a challenge. That challenge may be anything from a task, solving a riddle, or merely finding the clue which will lead them to their next Pit Stop. These challenges will be related in some manner to the location, company, or organization wherein they are located.
  • The event is based on pure time, so the time that it takes to complete a challenge to the time that it takes to cross the finish line. The team with the best overall time will WIN!

Aloha and welcome to the 23rd Annual Honolulu AIDS Walk! This year it will be on Saturday, May 24th, 2014 and will take you on a 3K walk or run around Honolulu Hale Civic Grounds. You will pass local landmarks; Hawaii State Capitol, Iolani Palace, and the King Kamehameha Statue. We hope you will join us for a day of community, fun, and a chance to make a difference in the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS in Hawaii. Since our first walk, you have helped Life Foundation raise over 2.4 million dollars through the Honolulu AIDS Walk, the largest public awareness event around HIV/AIDS in the islands. 100% of the money raised through this walk will stay here locally and make a huge impact on our local community. All the proceeds will benefit our HIV Care Services, Prevention Programs and HIV Testing, and other programs that Life Foundation oversees, like the Kua’ana Project, our Transgendered Services and Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) Hawaii.
